The agent and wife of Mauro Icardi has dismissed the speculation linking the striker with a potential move to Inter Milan. The Argentina international has experienced a mixed season by his standards at the Nerazzurri and there have been claims that he could be offloaded in the summer after his antics earlier in the year after being dropped from the captain’s role.

Speaking to Tiki Taka, Wanda Nara clarified that Icardi has never spoken about a potential switch to Juventus and he has remained silent since being stripped from the captaincy, she said: “Icardi never said he wanted Juve, that's not what he thinks. No-one's heard Mauro talk since he had the captaincy taken away from him. I was sure it would've been decided by now [Champions League qualification for Inter]. We're used to suffering, but we'll qualify for the Champions League. We deserve it.”

Icardi returned to first-team action with Inter in April after previously being reluctant to take the field after being stripped from the leadership duties. Since then, he has not been particularly dominant when it comes to the displays and it remains to be seen whether he would remain at the club beyond the summer.

Before that, however, the club’s immediate focus would remain on reaching the Champions League for the second season running. The San Siro giants are currently one point ahead of fifth-placed AC Milan in the race for the fourth spot and they may have to win the final game of the season to seal their Champions League berth.

Still, they can expect no favours from Empoli, who are fighting for their top-flight status and they need to show the extra desire to reach the objective. Inter have picked up just six points from the past five matches with their recent meeting against Napoli ending in a heavy 4-1 loss.
