Argentina national team coach Edgardo Bauza claimed that superstar Lionel Messi was showing his displeasure to the media for being criticised vehemently following a 4-0 loss against Paris St Germain in the Champions League.

Barcelona suffered this historic defeat which puts them on the verge of an exit from the competition at the last 16 stage for the first time since 2007. It was a horrendous performance from the team at all levels. Even Messi was not making any impact in the game. Player ratings after the match showed that Messi had one of his poorest games as a professional.

Yet, the Argentine managed to put behind such difficulties and scored a crucial goal against Leganes during the weekend. His two worlds – especially the last-minute penalty – were important in ensuring that Barcelona kept pace with Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga. The victory over Leganes has helped Barcelona move within just two points off a Real Madrid, although Zinedine Zidane’s team do have two games in hand.

A number of Barcelona players did not celebrate the winning goal against Leganes, and Bauza says that it is a strong sign that the superstar is clearly not happy with the approach of the media.

Bauza has been in charge of that international team for the last few months, and only recently have they taken the fifth win in the World Cup qualification group."I think he reacted to the criticism he may have received after PSG.I noticed he was very angry when he scored the goals," said Bauza. Argentina have taken only five wins from the 12 games. The national team needs a dramatic improvement in form in order to qualify for the World Cup from the automatic spots. Only the top four teams from the 10-team strong group will be able to make through automatically.
