Argentina reached the finals of the 2014 World Cup before eventually being knocked out of the international competition after losing against Germany.

Despite having reached so far in the latest edition of the World Cup, Lionel Messi and the former coach of Argentina, AlfioBasile both believe that the Argentine national football squad aren’t the favorites on winning the upcoming 2015 Copa America tournament which kicks off on June 11.

AlfioBasile won the Copa America in 1991 and in 1993, this was during the time when he was the manager of the Argentine squad but Basile believes that things are getting tougher and it won’t be as easy as it used to be some years ago.

"The opponents are well-matched. One day you can wake up and lose and that's it, goodbye, you're out. The Copa America is very difficult; the teams from the continent have become much stronger. Now all the teams, including at World Cups, do well and are of the top level. "For that reason it's difficult. Now you don't just win matches because of your name. Good teams win matches now and they are all very even.’’ Former Argentina manager, AlfioBasile told the media as he expressed his thoughts concerning the 2015 Copa America.

Argentina was pitted in Group B where they will be competing against Jamaica, Paraguay and Uruguay and have to rack up points in order to advance into the next rounds of the international competition.

Before those matches of the group stages are played, Argentina will be playing a number of friendly matches with: El Salvador, Ecuador and Bolivia. These friendly matches will be crucial for the Argentine national squad as Gerardo Martino was appointed as the coach of the national side and he needs to find out which combination of players fit his playing style.

Gerardo Martino was appointed as the head coach of Argentina on August of 2014 and he is eager on winning major titles with the nation.
