Argentina made their way to the finals of the 2014 World Cup where they played against Germany and succumbed to a defeat. Even with their failure of lifting the trophy. Some of the players of the Argentinean squad still managed of receiving praise from their performances during the tournament which is the case of Barcelona’s superstar Lionel Messi as he was awarded with the Golden Ball award.

The Argentinean squad will now have to prepare themselves for their upcoming tournaments by appointing the successor of Alejandro Sabella as he decided to step down from his role of coaching his nation.

“You have to fill the energy tank, which sometimes gets empty. I have to think if I’m in condition to give 100 per cent," Sabella told reporters.

Gerardo Martino, Jose Pekerman and Gerardo Martino are some of the favorites of taking up the hot seat and organize the Argentinean national football team for the 2015 Copa America which will be their next tournament.

Jose Pekerman already has experience coaching Argentina as he was the manager of the team during the 2006 edition of the World Cup but it will depend if whether or not Pekerman wants to continue being in charge of Colombia for the next years to come.

Having been in charge of Barcelona some time ago, Gerardo Martino has personally worked alongside with Lionel Messi and Javier Mascherano and this is one of the main reasons on why he is being considered as one of the favorites of being appointed as the next coach of Argentina. Coaching national teams is something that is on the portfolio of Martino as he was the former manager of Paraguay.
